Homework

Homework

Monday Spelling- On Monday your child will bring home his/her individualized spelling words to practice throughout the week. These are words that are personalized to them. Complete and return by Friday.

Requirements for spelling:
1.Write each of their personal words 5 times each

2.Arrange personal words into a paragraph that makes sense

Monday Vocabulary– On Monday student’s will bring home a vocabulary practice worksheet. This worksheet will be read aloud in class on Monday and the vocabulary will be introduced and discussed. Student’s will then need to complete the crossword puzzle and create new sentences for each of the highlighted words at home. Complete and return by Friday.

Monday Math– On Monday your child will also receive a weekly Math Review (5-10 math problems). Complete and return by Friday.

Expectation:
1.The goal is to send homework that is practice from our days/weeks of learning. If they should happen to struggle, we ask that they not become frustrated or overwhelmed but rather write a question or two on the particular problem and come to school prepared to get help.
2.Homework is readable.
3.Student’s thinking is present through his/her work.
4.Organized with problem numbers and spacings.

Weekly Reading – Each week your child is required to be reading 100 minutes outside of school. In order to meet the requirement, they need to get their planner signed by a parent or guardian. Complete and return with a signature by Friday.

On Occasion: Students will be working on projects within Social Studies or Science and the homework load for that time being may increase. Although during these times we will often cut from other homework areas to allow for quality time to spend on projects.

Homework follow-through:

Late Homework – Student’s not bringing in their homework on Friday will stay in during recess to complete. Any unfinished homework will be taken home over the weekend to complete and brought in Monday.
